What is a powder brow?
A powder brow, also known as an “ombre” brow, has no hair strokes at all and is made up entirely of tattoo machine shading. When doing a powder brow, a tattoo machine implants small dots of pigment below the skin. These dots are layered on top of each other until the desired level of saturation is achieved. We can do a very soft amount of shading with no harsh edges for an ultra-natural look, or add more layers of shading for a more defined, filled-in look. Powder brows can be completely customized to fit the client’s preferences!
What is microblading?
Microblading is a highly detailed and intricate permanent makeup technique that creates hairlike strokes to give the illusion of a full and natural brow. These hair strokes are made with a manual tool that holds a small grouping of tiny needles in order to create shallow incisions in the brow area.
What is a hybrid brow?
A hybrid brow combines microblading strokes with tattoo machine shading. If you have naturally sparse brow hair or uneven brow growth, a hybrid brow is perfect for you! It is also ideal for those looking for a more defined or “filled in” look in addition to soft hairstrokes in the front of the brow. We can add as much or as little shading as desired to give a variety of different looks!
What is a nano brow?
A nano brow is made up exclusively of natural-looking hairlike strokes to give the illusion of a full brow. It is similar to microblading in this way, however, a nano brow is created with a tattoo machine instead of a manual tool. As the latest in permanent eyebrow techniques, nano is suitable for all skin types and minimizes trauma to the skin.

How do I know which brow service is best for me?
At your appointment, your brow artist will begin with a consulation to discuss your goals and assess your skin and hair type, your facial features and bone structure, as well as your skin tone and hair color. Your artist will inform you on which technique is best for your inidividual needs and goals. Generally speaking, any brow technique that utilizes a tattoo machine is suitable for all ages and skin types. Microblading tends to not be ideal for clients with oily skin, large pores, and/or mature skin.
Do I need a consultation before booking?
No, you do not need a separate consultation in order to book a permanent makeup service unless specifically recommended by your artist. A full consultation is included at the beginning of your appointment. Your artist will talk to you about your goals and which options are best for you.
Do I need a touch-up appointment?
Yes! Permanent makeup is a two-step process and a touch-up is strongly recommended to get the best results. A touch-up is done 6-12 weeks after your initial session. This is where we assess your retention, perfect the shape and color, and add more dimension. Touch-ups are very important and add to the overall results and longevity of your tattoo.
How long does permanent makeup last?
Permanent makeup is designed to fade over time but is still considered a permanent cosmetic tattoo. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color will affect the longevity of the tattoo. Sun exposure and tanning beds can greatly affect the rate at which the pigment is broken down. Following the provided aftercare instructions is critical to getting the best results. Once you've completed your 6-12 week touch-up, you can expect your eyebrows to last anywhere from 1-3 years before needing a color boost/refresh. Permanent eyeliner will typically last even longer.
When should I book my "annual" refresh?
Before booking an “annual” touch-up, it is important to let your tattoo fade at least 50-60%. Letting the previous pigment fade allows us to keep that pigment looking fresh in the skin! If the ink in your skin from your previous appointments isn’t faded enough, adding more ink can cause the entire brow to look blotchy and uneven. Let them fade! If you’re ever unsure if you are ready for an “annual” refresher or not, email pictures to inkbyash.wi@gmail.com and your artist will let you know!
Does it hurt?
Pain tolerance levels vary from person to person and it depends on which service you receive. Most clients report little to no pain during their permanent eyebrow procedure. Topical numbing agents are utilized for eyebrows and most clients are incredibly relaxed, many even fall asleep! For eyeliner, you can expect to experience slightly more discomfort due to the nature of the area being tattooed. Although we also utilize topical numbing agents for eyeliner, having work done near the eye is inevitably a little more awkward and uncomfortable.
Can I wear makeup to my appointment?
Absolutely! In fact, it is preferred that you come to your appointment with your regular, day to day makeup on. This allows your artist to get a feel for your makeup preferences and individual style. Your artist will remove and cleanse any makeup from the area prior to your procedure. 'Before and after' pictures will also be taken (with your consent) so if wearing makeup makes you feel more comfortable, go for it!
I've had my brows done previously by another artist, can I still get my brows done at Honey Heart Tattoo?
If you have previous permanent makeup done by another artist, it must be at least 90% faded in order for us to take you on as a new client. You MUST email pictures of your naked brows from multiple angles in natural lighting to inkbyash.wi@gmail.com to receive approval before booking a cover-up appointment. An additional $50-$100 may be charged at the artist's discretion for brow cover-ups depending on the complexity of the case and if a color correction and/or major shape change is needed. All new permanent makeup clients to Honey Heart Tattoo are considered initial sessions, NOT touch-ups. We want to give our clients the very best and if we don’t think we can achieve the look you want with your existing work, your artist will give recommendations on which steps to take next.
We accept cash and card payments.
